Igboho must not escape - FG gives directives to police IG, DSS, NIA


The Federal Government of Nigeria through the Nigeria Immigration Services (NIS) as alerted security agencies in the country about an attempt by Sunday Adeyemo, aka Sunday Igboho to flee the boarders of Nigeria.

This was disclosed in a letter from the Headquarters of Nigeria Immigration Service, and addressed to the Director General, Department of State Service, The Inspector General of Police and the Director-General, Intelligence Agency. 

The security agencies are directed to apprehend the Yoruba self-determination activist anywhere he is found, as the letter which was dated 9th of July had the Federal Government placed him on the stop-list. A citizen placed on a stop-list is denied all constitutional rights and privileges he/she is entitled to. 

Igboho has went underground since he luckily escaped arrest during the heavy attack on his residence in the midnight of July 1. An attack that claimed the life of two of his associates and got 13 of his aides arrested. 

The letter which was signed on behalf of the Comptoller General of Immigration by his Assistant, Investigation and Compliance, A. B Baba was titled, " Stop-listing of person: Adeyemo Sunday Adeniyi (aka Sunday Igboho), male, Nigerian, Passport Number A11613637, date of birth 10/10/1972 was copied to all Zonal Comptollers and Control posts nationwide. 

The letter reads in part," I am directed to request that you kindly place the above-named person on stop-list. Credible intelligence reveled that Adeyemo is making efforts to obtain a police extract and/or court affidavit to enable him acquire a new Nigerian passport, apparently to facilitate his escape out of the country."

"In addition, he should be arrested wherever and whenever sighted and referred to the Director-General, Department of State Services vide letter no: S.605/A/246 dated 05 July, 2021."
